" Bringing History To Life"
Have you ever wondered how the Tudors entertained themselves without televisions or Playstations? How people dressed? Or what was expected from a Royal courtier? If you answered yes to any of the above then this workshop is for you. My aim, by Royal command, is to prepare your youngsters for a role at the Royal Court. Children will learn about the clothes worn by the nobility in 1530’s England and have the opportunity to explore Tudor toys and games, practice their dancing and try their hand at identifying Tudor objects.
Session Outline-Times are only approximates and activities/running order can be moved around and/or mixed up.
Welcome-
Who I am and why I am visiting them. Finding out what they know about the Tudors (Approx 5 mins)
Courtier Masterclass-Group talk which includes the correct way to greet those of a higher rank, dressing the King and Queen, expectations of a courtier and Tudor pastimes with individuals being picked to help with various activities and to play various roles. (Approx 15 mins)
Free Time-Children split into smaller groups and are sent to different activities. One group to toys and games, one to object identification and one to costume. Children given 15mins to explore each area on rotation.
Dancing-Children asked to come back into one big group and all taught a dance. Children finally split into 2 groups and perform to the rest of the court/class. (Approx 20 mins)
Sessions last approximately 1 hour and 30 mins and can be repeated for different classes at different times or can be run for one class but with smaller groups of children at different times. I will stay at your school all day and am happy to discuss numbers and logistics before booking to ensure the best option for you.
